52-year-old woman placed under house arrest for insulting the President
A suspect who was detained by police teams after being identified as having made remarks containing insults against the President during a street interview in Istanbul has been placed under house arrest.
According to the information obtained, a 52-year-old woman identified as Ş.B. was detained on June 14 by teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Security Branch, as part of an investigation coordinated by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, after it was determined that she had made statements containing insults against the President during a street interview.
Following her processing at the police station, the suspect, Ş.B., was referred to judicial authorities on June 15, where she was placed under house arrest with judicial control measures applied for the crime of "Article 299 of the Turkish Penal Code (Insulting the President)."
