Another denial from Mehmet Şimşek

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has issued a written statement regarding the remarks allegedly made by Mehmet Şimşek during a meeting with industrialists. The Ministry stated that the words reflected in the public domain do not reflect the truth and were taken out of context.

“PRESENTED WITH FALSE ELEMENTS”

In the statement issued by the Ministry, reports regarding the meeting hosted by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (İSO) were criticized. The statement indicated that the reports in question aimed to create a negative perception in the public eye and included the following remarks:

“The effort by Nefes newspaper to present the meeting where our Minister came together with our industrialists, hosted by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (İSO), on its front page today with false elements and a negative perception is unacceptable. This is not journalistic activity; it is purely an attempt at defamation.”

“REPORTS MADE WITHOUT CITING SOURCES”

The statement also drew attention to the fact that no sources were cited in the reports and that the Ministry was not contacted for verification. Stating that such reports are a conscious effort to create a perception, the following assessment was made:

“Reporting in the form of ‘it is alleged’ without citing a source and without contacting us for confirmation of its accuracy goes no further than a conscious effort to create a perception.”

In the Ministry's statement, it was shared that the approximately 2.5-hour meeting Mehmet Şimşek held with industrialists was closed to the press. It was conveyed that the meeting took place first as a presentation and then as a consultation.
