In Adana, a young girl who had reported to the police that she was a victim of sexual abuse faced an attempted armed attack by her father at the hospital where she had been taken for an examination. The father, who was determined to have been hiding in the hospital following the incident, was apprehended in an operation by special operations police.
The incident began when E.D., who lives in the Meydan neighborhood of the central Seyhan district, reported to the police alleging sexual abuse. Police teams took the young girl to Adana City Hospital for a physical examination.
According to the allegations, the father, M.D. (47), learned of the situation and arrived at the hospital in his vehicle. Police teams intervened as M.D. allegedly attempted to attack his daughter with a firearm; the young girl was taken to a secure area within the hospital for protection.
It was reported that the suspect father fired shots at the hospital windows before entering the building and evading capture. Police and hospital security conducted a search throughout the hospital during the night. At approximately 07:00 in the morning, M.D. was located in an empty room in the neurosurgery department.
Special operations police were dispatched to the scene for the suspect, who reportedly opened fire on police despite calls for him to surrender. M.D. was apprehended in the operation and taken into custody. It was reported that the young girl has been placed under state protection and that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect related to the sexual abuse allegation.
