In Istanbul's Esenler district, a dump truck with failing brakes lost control and struck seven vehicles. While the incident caused panic in the area, there were no deaths or injuries.
In a traffic accident that occurred in the evening on Mahmutbey Street in Esenler's Tuna neighborhood, the brakes of a dump truck with license plate 35 HC 0089 failed while descending a ramp. The truck driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a total of seven vehicles, both those in motion and those parked.
Immediately following the accident, police teams were dispatched to the scene upon reports from local citizens. Mahmutbey Street, which was closed to traffic for a short time for safety reasons, was reopened after the vehicles involved in the accident were removed by tow trucks.
While there were no injuries in the incident, significant material damage occurred to some of the vehicles as a result of the collision. Police teams took security measures in the area and launched an investigation. As the vehicles involved in the accident were rendered unusable, they were taken to a parking lot by tow truck to be delivered to their owners.
Authorities are continuing their work regarding the cause of the accident, while drivers and residents in the area have demanded that measures be taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
