Five party leaders meet in Ankara: Is a new alliance coming?

Victory Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, National Path Party Chairman Remzi Çayır, Independent Turkey Party Chairman Hüseyin Baş, Justice Party Chairman Vecdet Öz, and Kutlu Party Chairman Yusuf Halaçoğlu met at a restaurant in Ankara.

In the statements made by the leaders while answering journalists' questions before the meeting, the agenda of the meeting and the potential discussion of an alliance stood out. When asked whether the main topic of the meeting was the "framework law," National Path Party Chairman Remzi Çayır replied, "We will discuss how Turkish nationalists will act together regarding the future."

When asked if a new alliance was being discussed, Çayır said, "Yes, there is something like that." In his assessment regarding the "framework law," Çayır criticized the regulation with harsh words and argued that the matter should be put to the nation.

BTP Chairman Hüseyin Baş stated that different meanings were being attributed to the meeting, noting that it was planned as a "consultation meeting." Baş said, "As a young politician, it will be an evening where I have the opportunity to consult and chat with four different chairmen who have been involved in politics in Turkey for years."

Emphasizing that the meeting could not be limited only to the "framework law" topic, Baş stated that agendas such as the economy and education would also be evaluated. When asked whether an alliance announcement would be made, he replied, "I don't think the agenda of Turkey right now is an alliance."

Pointing to the uncertainty regarding the election calendar, Hüseyin Baş said, "Will it be early, or will it be on time? Therefore, as I said, although different meanings have been attributed to this meeting recently, we did not attend a meeting here under the heading of an alliance."
