Breaking News: Adalar Municipality passes to AKP! 3 votes from CHP to AKP

The first round of voting in the Adalar Municipality deputy mayoral election has been completed.

According to the results of the first round, CHP candidate Aytül Ekşiyan received 4 votes, while AKP candidate Kemal Türkyılmaz received 5 votes.

TIE IN THE SECOND ROUND

In the second round, both candidates received 4 votes each, while 1 vote was declared invalid.

HALL CLEARED DUE TO TENSION

As tensions rose during the election, the council president invited the police into the hall and requested that it be cleared. Members of the CHP and YENİ Party left the hall and withdrew from the election.

Following the decision of the CHP and YENİ Party not to participate in the 3rd round, the AKP candidate finished the election with a 5-0 lead. The election proceeded to the 4th round.

As a result of the 4th round, in which the two parties did not participate, the Adalar Municipality passed to the AKP.

ADALAR MUNICIPALITY COUNCIL ARITHMETIC

In the Adalar Municipality, the CHP has 7 council members and the AKP has 2.

It had been alleged before the election that 3 CHP council members would vote for the AKP candidate.

According to information provided by İsmail Saymaz, a notable development occurred before the election. The restriction on the voting rights of a CHP council member, who had been arrested and later released as part of a corruption investigation but was unable to vote because they had not been reinstated to their position, was lifted yesterday.

According to information given to Saymaz by YENİ Party Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik, the balance of votes in the council changed following this development.

3 CHP MEMBERS VOTED FOR AKP

In the first round of the deputy mayoral election, 3 CHP council members voted for the AKP candidate. Thus, the AKP candidate finished the first round in the lead with 5 votes. In the second round, after 1 vote was declared invalid, both candidates remained at 4 votes each.

In the deputy mayoral election, a two-thirds majority, or a qualified majority, of the municipal council is required in the first two rounds.

If this is not achieved, a vote of one more than half the number of members is required in the third round. If an absolute majority is not reached, the election proceeds to the fourth round.

In the fourth round, the candidate with the most votes wins. If both candidates receive an equal number of votes, the deputy mayor is determined by drawing lots.
