The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has amended the regulation regarding the classification of beef carcasses. The regulation, which entered into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette, changed the weight criterion used to determine the market price of beef carcasses.
According to the new practice, the market price of beef carcasses will be calculated based on the hot carcass weight instead of the chilled carcass weight after slaughter. Thus, the cold carcass weight criterion previously used in the price-setting process has been removed from practice.
The regulation was issued within the scope of the "Regulation on Amending the Regulation on the Classification of Beef Carcasses." With the amendment, the administrative responsibility for the implementation of the regulation has also been updated.
Accordingly, the tasks and procedures previously carried out by the General Directorate of Food and Control will henceforth be under the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's General Directorate of Livestock.
The regulation amendment entered into force as of the date it was published in the Official Gazette.
