It was stated that the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office examined certain statements circulating on social media and that the expressions in question were evaluated within the scope of insulting the President.
The investigation is being conducted under the first paragraph of Article 299 of the Turkish Penal Code, it was reported. The first paragraph of Article 299 of the Turkish Penal Code stipulates that a person who commits the crime of insulting the President shall be sentenced to imprisonment from one to four years.
It was learned that the investigation launched into Davutoğlu is being carried out as part of an examination regarding the content of the statements in the social media posts.
