In the US Congressional record, Turkey's objective is explained as removing older defense materials from its inventory and directing financial resources toward modernization and the maintenance of existing systems.
"THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO BE INFORMED"
Stating in his post that no official statement has yet been made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Ministry of National Defense regarding the matter, Gürdeniz called out, "This arms sale has content that is extremely disruptive to the balance. The public needs to be informed about this."
Gürdeniz also argued that Turkey should maintain its active neutrality due to its position stemming from the Montreux Convention Regarding the Regime of the Straits within the scope of the Russia-Ukraine War, and asserted that the transfer in question should be disclosed to the public.
