Chilling incident in Mersin: Puppy dies after being handled by two children

Şahin Akat, a mobile phone retailer in Mersin, tied his 2.5-month-old Pomeranian puppy to the door of his shop yesterday.

While Akat was busy with a customer, two young girls entered the shop and picked up the puppy to pet it.

After the children left the shop, Akat noticed the puppy lying motionless and took it to a veterinarian, where he learned that the dog had died.

Akat subsequently went to the police station and filed a complaint against the children.

Security camera footage from the shop shows the puppy struggling after falling from the arms of one of the children.

"THE VETERINARIAN SAID IT DIED FROM ASPHYXIATION"

In a statement, Şahin Akat expressed his grief over losing his dog, named "Gece" (Night).

Stating that the children did not ask for his permission to pet the puppy, Akat said, "After I saw the dog was motionless, I tried to give it water, but it did not respond. The veterinarian told me that my dog's tongue had turned purple and that it died from asphyxiation. I believe this was done intentionally."

Akat noted that he buried his dog in an animal cemetery, adding, "I want this incident to be clarified as soon as possible."
