CHP's Çelik calls on Istanbul Governor Gül to 'keep your word': 'Stop breaking the law'
CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik addressed Istanbul Governor Davut Gül in a social media post, telling him to 'keep your word.'
Immediately following the speech delivered by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel on the 6th day of the protests in Saraçhane, police intervened against the citizens in the square.
Despite the meetings held and warnings issued prior to the gathering, the police's use of tear gas against citizens drew a reaction from CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik, who was present at the scene to ensure no incidents occurred.
In a statement on his social media account, Çelik tagged Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, with whom they had met before the meeting, and used the following expressions:

"Dear Governor Davut Gül,
Either there are provocateurs who have infiltrated our security forces, or you are personally giving unlawful orders.
We met today, and we took every precaution. Even though there was not the slightest provocation from where our citizens were, gas was sprayed on women and children, and violence was used against young people. Dozens of people were detained unnecessarily.
Stop escalating tensions and stop breaking the law. You are harming our country.
Keep your word."
