An operation was carried out at the Merkezefendi Municipality in Denizli in the morning hours. It was reported that police teams were conducting searches and investigations at the municipal building and that the building entrances had been closed.
As part of the operation, procedures were carried out in several departments, including the Financial Services and Science Affairs directorates. According to DHA, a large number of people, including Merkezefendi Mayor Şeniz Doğan and her husband Mehmet Ali Doğan, were detained.
It was stated that in addition to the police operations at the municipal building, searches were also continuing at Mayor Doğan's home.

Following the operation targeting the Merkezefendi Municipality, a statement also came from Denizli Metropolitan Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu.
Sharing a post on his X account, Çavuşoğlu used the following expressions:
"I am saddened by the detention of our Merkezefendi Mayor, Ms. Şeniz Doğan, and her colleagues, who have served our city to date with an understanding of serving the public.
Applying such methods to people who would go to give testimony when summoned damages trust in the judiciary and wounds the public conscience.
One of the fundamental principles of the rule of law is the presumption of innocence. Of course, no one is exempt from being tried. However, our greatest expectation is that the law be applied equally, impartially, and fairly to everyone, and that justice be served in accordance with these principles."
