Earthquake in Pütürge, Malatya in the morning hours
A 4.5-magnitude earthquake that occurred in the early morning hours in the Pütürge district of Malatya caused concern in the region; it was reported that no negative incidents occurred.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced that a 4.5-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Pütürge district of Malatya at 06:43 this morning. While Pütürge was identified as the epicenter of the earthquake, it was stated that the tremor occurred at a depth of 9.39 kilometers.
AFAD officials included the following statements in their announcement on their social media accounts:
"Following the 4.5-magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Pütürge district of our Malatya province at 06:43, there are currently no negative reports. Field survey operations are ongoing. We extend our best wishes to our affected citizens."
While no loss of life or property was reported following the tremor that occurred in the early morning, it was conveyed that inspection and field survey activities are continuing in the region. Citizens experienced brief panic following the earthquake, and officials noted that developments are being monitored.
