'England' talked about Turkey the most
Turkey, which frequently features on the European agenda due to its geopolitical position and socio-cultural richness, is discussed in various ways across different corners of the continent.
According to the latest research by MTM Media Monitoring Center, Turkey was discussed most on social media in England, and most in the media in Germany and Greece.
While topics that spread rapidly on social media stand out in one country, the same subject is covered in more detail on news sites in another. This picture reveals how interest in Turkey changes according to the medium.
According to MTM's analysis, which covers the dates between March 27 and April 27, 2026, and is based on over 10 thousand sources, 1.54 million reflections related to Turkey were detected across Europe. 88% of these reflections originated from social media, and 12% from online news sites. While the countries that talked about Turkey the most on social media were England, France, and Germany, Germany's top position on news sites shows that the agenda is shaped more through news production. The high ranking of Greece and Italy reveals that editorial content is decisive in the nearby geography.
England Talked About Turkey on Social Media
The data shows that the agenda is not distributed equally across Europe. While England, France, and Germany account for approximately half of the total reflections related to Turkey, England was the country that reached the highest volume. Approximately 19% of the reflections in Europe originated from England. England, which also stands out on social media, produced 21% of the total posts alone with approximately 278 thousand pieces of content related to Turkey.
Great Interest in Turkey from German Media
While Germany ranked first on the media side with approximately 42 thousand news items related to Turkey, it accounted for 23% of total media reflections alone. Greece, which settled into second place on the list of media reflections about Turkey with 28 thousand news items, reveals that a significant portion of the total reflections in the country occurred through news sources. This picture shows that the agenda related to Turkey in countries such as Greece, Romania, and the Czech Republic is shaped more through news content.
Countries Where Turkey is Talked About the Least
MTM Media Monitoring Center data reveals that interest in Turkey is not distributed equally across Europe and that the agenda does not progress uniformly. While the agenda remains limited in Hungary, Norway, and Denmark, where Turkey is talked about the least, it is observed that the discussions proceed largely through social media. In contrast, while social media stands out in Western Europe, a structure where news content is more decisive in the nearby geography draws attention. This picture shows that Turkey is discussed in Europe with dynamics that change according to media and regions.
