Femicide in Diyarbakır: Suspect found dead
Ö.K., who shot and killed his ex-wife M.K. with a handgun in Diyarbakır, took his own life after being pursued by police in the vehicle he used to flee.
A femicide occurred in front of the library building at the Millet Bahçesi complex in the Yenişehir district of Diyarbakır. A man named Ö.K. argued with his ex-wife, M.K., at the location.
During the argument, Ö.K. shot M.K. with a handgun he had brought with him. M.K., who was critically wounded, lost her life at the scene.
Following the attack, police teams launched an operation to apprehend Ö.K., who fled in his vehicle. The car carrying the suspect was tracked by police on the Mardin road.
It was reported that when the teams cornered the vehicle, Ö.K. realized he was about to be caught and took his own life with the same handgun.
The bodies of M.K. and Ö.K. were taken to the Diyarbakır Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsies following investigations at the scenes. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
