Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s message on the Mecca Alliance: Saudi Arabia’s military needs can be met

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made assessments regarding current foreign policy topics during a broadcast he attended.

Speaking on the attacks against Saudi Arabia and the role of the Mecca Alliance, Fidan emphasized that Turkey is committed to its obligations within the framework of the alliance.

Appearing as a guest on NTV, Fidan stated that they do not take seriously the claims that the Mecca Alliance remains only "on paper," noting that the alliance was established to produce regional solutions to regional problems and that the institutionalization process is progressing rapidly.

There are attacks on the territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia. As per our alliance agreement, we keep our word. They may have military needs, especially in certain technical areas, and we would have no problem meeting them. The Mecca Alliance will be a game-changing platform.

— Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan

Drawing attention to the economic repercussions of the tension in the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, Fidan stated that these effects have now exceeded a tolerable level. He expressed hope that the negotiations between the US and Iran would yield results.

ISRAEL, SYRIA, AND BLACK SEA TOPICS

Evaluating Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s anti-Turkey statements, Fidan said that Netanyahu uses anti-Turkey sentiment to strengthen his position in domestic politics. Fidan stated that Turkey is a state that will not fall for "cheap provocations."

Providing information on contacts regarding Syria, Fidan conveyed that issues of security, integration, and counter-terrorism along the 911-kilometer border line were discussed. He stated that the issue of the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces would also be closely monitored until the conditions of the process are met.

Stating that the reconciliation process in Gaza and the West Bank has not been able to move to the second phase, Fidan argued that Hamas has fulfilled its commitments, whereas Israel continues to block the process. Regarding the tension in the Black Sea, he noted that new proposals, including the safe exit of grain, have been conveyed to the parties and that a response is awaited.

Making the assessment that political rhetoric in Greece is "playing the Turkey card in domestic politics," Fidan said that the Turkish Armed Forces and coast guard elements are on alert in the field. Fidan also stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will focus on human values and the risks posed by artificial intelligence in his address to the 81st United Nations General Assembly, noting that artificial intelligence has turned into a critical topic for national security.
