Former DEM Party chair sentenced to 13 life terms for 13 martyrs
Former DEM Party Iğdır Provincial Chair Mehmet Selçuk has been sentenced to 13 aggravated life sentences.
Nine years after the 2015 bombing in Iğdır that resulted in the martyrdom of 13 police officers, an investigation was launched by the Iğdır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office following a tip-off.
Former DEM Party member Mehmet Selçuk, who was detained as part of the investigation launched by the Iğdır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office last year, was arrested and sent to prison.
A verdict has been reached in the trial of Selçuk, who is being held in Elazığ Prison.
The Iğdır 1st High Criminal Court has sentenced former DEM Party Iğdır Provincial Chair Mehmet Selçuk, who was being tried while in custody in connection with the incident, to 13 aggravated life sentences.
