AKP Deputy Chairman Nihat Zeybekci has made new statements regarding the fund investigations being conducted into transactions in capital markets. In his assessment of the process, Zeybekci pointed to certain public institutions.
Speaking at the AKP Tavas District Advisory Council Meeting held at the Tavas Youth Center Conference Hall, Zeybekci argued that Turkey has maintained its stability despite the conflicts in its surrounding region. In one part of his speech, Zeybekci also touched upon the fund investigations.
Zeybekci stated, "This fund issue is unfortunately related to the negligence of approximately 6 public institutions. There is negligence by public officials, and in some cases, high-level negligence. Unfortunately, there is both negligence and abuse of office in the management of some public institutions."
Stating that the legal process must take its course, Zeybekci said, "But we are a state of law. In a state of law, you cannot just say 'take this, take that.' The law must function, the system must work, but the negligence of these institutions is clear."
Zeybekci had previously announced that the money of the companies he is a partner in remained trapped in the TP2 fund. In a statement reported by journalist Aytunç Erkin, Zeybekci had said, "We are one of the 455 thousand victims."
