Melih Gökçek responds to ABB's 'criminal organization' remarks

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) has filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office alleging a "criminal organization" involving former mayor Melih Gökçek, his family, and individuals including executives of Beyaz TV Ankara and Osmanlıspor.

ABB Lawyer Nadi Türkaslan stated in a press statement in front of the Ankara Courthouse that the application aims to investigate whether municipal resources were used through illegal means and whether assets were acquired in this manner.

In his statement, Türkaslan used the phrase "what I could call the Gökçek criminal organization..." regarding Melih Gökçek and his family.

GÖKÇEK REACTS TO 'CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION' REMARK

Melih Gökçek responded to Türkaslan's words with a post on his social media account. Reacting to the term "Gökçek criminal organization" used for him and his family, Gökçek stated that these remarks would be held to account legally.

Gökçek used the following expressions in his post:

"Mansur Yavaş's lawyer, Nadi Türkaslan, used the term 'Gökçek criminal organization' regarding my family members and myself in a statement he made in front of the Ankara Courthouse today. This expression is unacceptable and is an extremely serious accusation of a crime.

We will never remain silent while our family is slandered and our reputation is targeted through political attacks.

These remarks will be held to account before the law. We have filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the matter.

This trial by media and these baseless accusations will certainly be held to account before the law."
