MHP leader Bahçeli reacts to CHP, praises DEM: 'Bakırhan's words are valuable'

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli has issued a holiday message. In his message, Bahçeli included harsh expressions toward the CHP while expressing appreciation for the DEM Party. Bahçeli stated, "The common sense and cool-headed statements of DEM Party Co-Chair Bakırhan, saying 'We are not the activist base of the CHP,' are valuable and worthy of appreciation."

The full text of Bahçeli's statement is as follows:

"Following the blessed month of Ramadan, we are experiencing both the joy and the sorrow of reaching the holiday days we have been honored and privileged to attain. We are experiencing sorrow because we are leaving behind the blessed month of Ramadan, the sultan of eleven months, whose beginning is mercy, middle is forgiveness, and end is salvation from the torment of hell. My prayer to Allah is to allow us to reach it again. Eid al-Fitr is the material and spiritual reward of the act of fasting, or more accurately, of the Month of Ramadan. It is my sincere and earnest wish to be worthy and deserving of this reward. Holidays are sacred periods when the feelings of peace and brotherhood move from potential to action, and the need for embracing and integration strengthens and blossoms. Holidays are, and should be, the time to repair and reconcile broken spirits, resentful individuals, and broken hearts. A holiday is an opportunity for effective unity, continuous harmony, and meaningful goodness. The wasting and squandering of this opportunity will not be tolerated or permitted either in the sight of Allah or in the eyes of the nation. Peace and tranquility constitute a lasting holiday for the individual, society, and the nation. Our national goal is to permanently transform our country into a place of celebration, thereby opening clenched fists, overcoming prejudices, casting aside delusions, and revealing an environment of affection and handshake like a gem waiting to be processed. This important and distinguished goal, by its nature, requires patience, sincerity, trust, honesty, empathy, tolerance, attention, and deliberation.

'LIKE FLIES LANDING ON FILTH...'

“We will hopefully reach the aforementioned goal, which has materialized as a 'Terror-Free Turkey' and, more importantly, has found resonance in the great Turkish nation. No country will be able to keep up with the speed and ambition of a Turkey where illegal bloody weapons are buried and democratic politics define the horizon of vision. In the words of our late thinker Ziya Gökalp, the owl of despair will not be able to nest in the heart of any of our people. With the climate of majesty, mercy, and satisfaction of the holiday days, the moonlight, source, and social and psychological mechanism of the concept of a terror-free Turkey will hopefully be formed. Since our intention is pure, our final destiny will also be good. No trap, no setup, no conspiracy, no remote-controlled plot will be able to disrupt our determination. Of course, there are internal and external circles that are frightened by the goal and effort of a terror-free Turkey and have nightmares, and this group with a stained foundation has become very prominent in recent days. Those who cannot digest our determination for peace, democracy, and brotherhood, and who go further by organizing actions to sabotage and prune historical developments, have swarmed like flies landing on filth.

Fifth-column activity is in effect with external connections to muddy the goal and desire for a terror-free Turkey, and even to break its back. Indeed, at a time when hopes for peace between Russia and Ukraine are budding, when positive agendas in the Syrian Arab Republic are being realized and aspirations for political stability are being reached step by step, and at the same time when Turkey has reached a higher level where its word carries weight, and its prestige and deterrence are rising in the regional and global arena, a legal issue has been dragged into a vortex of street protests and boycotts, and the atmosphere of internal public order and peace has been poisoned. Unfortunately, the Republican People's Party (CHP) has opened a front of evil and violence against the Republic of Turkey. The legacy of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk has been turned into plunder. Every citizen of ours, simple in their outer world but rich in their inner world, and likewise pious, honorable, and whose national and spiritual sensitivities rise tall like a minaret, has seen the attacks and sabotage carried out against our country and has read the malicious games.

'A FASCIST UPRISING HAS OCCURRED'

Distorting a legal case to polarize through the ballot box is more than ignorance; it is malice. The salt has rotted in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality; allegations of corruption, bribery, and theft have brought to mind the saying that 'the rumor is worse than the event.' Between March 19, 2025, and March 23, 2025, a pressurized fascist uprising was staged from the outside to squeeze Turkey into the streets and make it unable to breathe. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has been imprisoned in the hands and political ambitions of pickpockets, highwaymen, those who eat forbidden gains, and those who violate the duty of the city's guardian by filling their pockets and bank accounts. Drying up this swamp of scandalous and illegal corruption and holding the perpetrators and criminals accountable is a responsibility of the rule of law that cannot be neglected or postponed. In the Republic of Turkey, the law is supreme. Pitting democracy against the law, trying to cover up treason with the national will, and unfairly trying to acquit and protect individuals who are at the center of very serious accusations under the pretext of being elected is a direct service to anarchy and disorder. Such a basis and authorization have not been given to anyone, and moreover, cannot be given. The Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and nearly 50 people at the center of corruption allegations have been arrested. The investigation and prosecution processes must be completed rapidly; who is guilty and who is innocent must be distinguished and determined. The law is necessary for everyone. Opposing the law, belittling legal professionals, and opening the scales of justice to debate is a covert operation against the sovereign rights of the state and the existential dignity of the nation. The summary of this heinous operation is to set Turkey on fire. The scrambling of the CHP Chairman and his chaos-loving supporters in Saraçhane for days, and their efforts to extend this to the social fabric by creating a widespread and intense crisis spiral, is an unprincipled and indecent tyranny never seen in any democratic and civilized country. The path for seeking rights in Turkey is clear and open to everyone. The real problem of this extremist and corrupt mob, which claims to defend democracy, law, and freedom even if only in words, is held hostage by their hatred and anger, and at the same time takes to the streets to attack the state's security forces with acid, stones, axes, Molotov cocktails, slingshots, and fireworks, is something else, and this matter has become clear. If the indecent treatment of the Şehzadebaşı Mosque and its courtyard, along with the insults and swearing and picking fights here and there, are not clear evidence of the purposes for which the games played in Saraçhane are intended, then what are they?

'CHP'S SECRET AGENDA IS TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT THROUGH THE STREETS'

The street invitation, boycott call, and 'tear it down' messages of the CHP Chairman are not so much the pathetic and disheveled state of a politician caught up in the excitement of the crowd, but rather a conscious, systematic, and anti-democratic uprising attempt and test that irritates the nation's nerve endings. In particular, his suggestions and rhetoric regarding the boycott of domestic and national companies and some media organizations are a clear sign that Özgür Özel has gone off the rails. The dark protests led by the CHP are more despotic, worthless, unbalanced, and extremely threatening than they are democratic in nature. Just as it happened during the Gezi Park events, the Turkish economy has been targeted. 12 different organizations have taken refuge under the wings of the CHP and spread poison and humiliation in the streets. Masked urban bandits have taken the stage. While support and assistance were needed to investigate theft and corruption and bring the truth to light, hostile attitudes and behaviors have occupied our Turkey and worried our nation under the camouflage of democratic protest. Our country's reputation, democracy, and legal security have been targeted. They wanted to stir up the universities. It is a known fact that boycott and occupation lead to the same abyss. Moreover, the words of the late İsmet İnönü, “a boycott is the same as an occupation,” are in the national memory. The hidden and secret agenda of the CHP is to overthrow the government through the streets and to ignite the fuse of occupation attempts similar to July 15. While it is known that CHP members betray each other, dig each other's graves, and that informants in the guise of the 'six arrows' spill the dirty laundry of those they see as rivals within the party, distorting a legal issue and tearing it from its true circle of meaning cannot be evaluated as an innocent and reasonable choice. It is clear that the vein of corruption has burst from the war of factions.

'CHP'S PROBLEM IS AGAIN THE CHP'

CHP's problem is again the CHP. The fact that the CHP Chairman complains about Turkey to foreign countries, disparages economic management, and falls into a dark pit of begging for mercy from England with a neurosis of abandonment shows that the understanding of mandate and protection still exists as a living cell. So much so that whatever was in the jar has leaked out. It has become clearly understood what kind of rot Özgür Özel has fallen into the clutches of. The judicial process covering the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has exposed the true face, spineless and incompetent stance of the CHP administration like a litmus paper. The CHP mentality, which digs a tunnel of connection to global imperialism and holds out its hand by blackening the honorable line of the dear Atatürk, has completed its historical and political expiration date with a very bad ending. The mandate-seeking CHP has stalled, stumbled, and exhausted itself; moreover, its bankruptcy, wastefulness, and colonial politics have been documented under the lights of a ceremony of scandals that have formed one after another. The common sense and cool-headed statements of DEM Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan, saying “We are not the activist base of the CHP,” are valuable and worthy of appreciation. The CHP's attempts to muddy the waters are doomed to fail and will not be enough to patch their tears. The People's Alliance will protect the ideal of the Turkish and Turkish Century; it will defend national honor, the existence of the nation, and the dignity of independence and future to the end. Every conscious, freedom-loving, and vigilant patriotic citizen is against the chaos merchants. Those who look for opportunities to pour Turkish youth into the streets, and those who hide behind Turkish youth and make cheap and outlandish calculations over our country and nation, will certainly not be given an opportunity, and first and foremost, the guarantees of our future will not turn a blind eye to this. It is not possible for the CHP to proceed any further with the de facto trusteeship of the mandate-seeking minority. The Turkish nation will know its existence, unity, and common destiny as its honor and will not let any shadow fall upon it. The People's Alliance will carry the following words expressed by our late thinker Ziya Gökalp in its heart exactly and will heroically represent them: “The honor of the nation is entrusted to us today.” With these feelings and thoughts, I greet all the children of the homeland and the nation who have shouldered the hardships of life from east to west, from north to south; every brother of mine, regardless of their ethnic origin, sect, region, and mother tongue, and our citizens living abroad, with the most beautiful greetings, and I congratulate them on their Eid al-Fitr. I wish a happy holiday to our kinsmen and religious brothers living in the geographies of heart and culture. I pray to my Lord for the acceptance of the fasts kept and the prayers and worship performed throughout the month of Ramadan. I consider it a matter of life and death that all our citizens who will set out during the nine-day holiday and satisfy their longing for their homeland strictly follow traffic rules so as not to deeply wound their loved ones, those they love, and those who are waiting for them. I share my wishes for eternal happiness and well-being with the great Turkish nation, of whose membership I am proud. I say, may our blessed Eid al-Fitr be auspicious."
