New development regarding the vendor who charged influencers a 7,000 lira 'boyoz' bill: Statement from the Ministry of Trade
Influencers Fırat Sobutay, Bilal Hancı, Gökhan Öner, and Ataberk Doğan visited a popular boyoz vendor who gained fame by shouting 'They're burning!' while selling the pastry. The 7,000 lira bill the four influencers paid to the vendor became the talk of social media. The Ministry of Trade has put an end to the ongoing price debate.
After eating the boyoz and continuing their shoot, influencer Ataberk Doğan asked, "Did the bill seem expensive to me?" and when he revealed the amount they paid, the others were shocked.
Ataberk Doğan said, "He said 7,600 and dropped it to 7,000." The other influencers tried to figure out the price per piece of boyoz and protested, saying, "Did he charge us for today? No way, he's scamming us."
Following the rapid spread of the video and the continued debate over the price, the Ministry of Trade issued a lengthy statement via its social media account.
HERE IS THE MINISTRY'S STATEMENT:
Following posts in some press and social media outlets claiming that "a street boyoz vendor in İzmir charged a citizen a 7,000 TL bill," an investigation was immediately launched by our Ministry of Trade teams.
The investigations determined that the sale in question took place at a business belonging to an individual operating with a mobile simit cart in the Konak district.
It was determined that the individual sells baked goods such as gevrek, boyoz, poğaça, and börek, as well as beverages, at this location after 20:00 in the evening.
During the inspection conducted on the night of November 05, 2025;
Following findings regarding the pricing of the products, an Unfair Price Determination Report was issued for the business, and its purchase-sale invoices and defense were requested.
Additionally, a notification was made to the İzmir Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen regarding the compliance of the prices with the maximum tariff prices of the affiliated chamber.
In his statement taken on November 06, 2025, business owner Baran Akçakale declared that on the night of the incident, a large crowd consisting of people he identified as social media influencers and more than 50 people accompanying them came to his workplace around 02:30, purchased products while live-streaming, and requested cheese, egg, and Nutella-filled boyoz, with each person wanting at least two.
The business owner explained that the individuals in question used phrases like "write the bill generously, don't leave anything out, we'll take it all," and that despite his desire to calculate the bill, they insisted on an estimated total, resulting in a 7,600 TL bill for approximately 100 boyoz and beverages, and that a receipt for 6,900 TL was issued due to the POS device limit, with payment made for that amount.
According to the business owner's statement, the individuals in question left satisfied after making the payment, but later made posts on social media containing allegations of "exorbitant pricing."

On the other hand, the inspection also revealed that the business did not have price lists and labels for the gevrek, boyoz, poğaça, börek, and beverages sold. For this reason, an administrative fine of 47,490 TL was imposed on the business in accordance with Article 54 of the Law on the Protection of the Consumer No. 6502.
Our Ministry of Trade will continue to meticulously carry out strict inspection activities to ensure that both our consumers and honest traders do not suffer grievances in the market and to prevent unfair pricing practices.
Bazı basın ve sosyal medya mecralarında yer alan “İzmir’de bir seyyar boyoz satıcısının, vatandaşa 7.000 TL hesap çıkardığı” yönündeki paylaşımlar üzerine, Ticaret Bakanlığımız ekiplerince derhal inceleme başlatılmıştır.
