Özgür Özel's 'November 10' message with 'Constitution' emphasis: 'We will defend and strengthen it'
CHP Chairman Özel released a commemorative message on the 86th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founding leader of the Republic of Turkey. In his message, Özel emphasized the importance of Atatürk's principles and reforms, stating that the founding leader's steps must be followed in the struggle against imperialism.
In his "November 10" message released on the 86th anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's death, Özel spoke of the importance of defending the Republic, stating, "We will defend and strengthen the democratic, secular, and social state of law characteristics of our Republic, which are emphasized in the second article of the Constitution—one of its unchangeable articles—at any cost."
'ATATÜRK IS A SYMBOL OF STRUGGLE FOR ALL THE OPPRESSED'
The CHP leader noted the following in his message:
"I commemorate the founder of our Republic, the architect of our independence, and our first and eternal Chairman, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with respect, gratitude, and longing on the 86th anniversary of his passing.
Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who packed great victories, great revolutions, and great breakthroughs into his 57-year life, has become a symbol of the struggle against imperialism not only for Turkey but for oppressed nations as well. We continue our struggle to protect the legacy of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who said, 'I have two great works; one is the Republic of Turkey, and the other is the Republican People's Party,' and to reach the goals he showed us."
'WE WILL DEFEND AND STRENGTHEN OUR REPUBLIC'
"We are aware of our responsibility to keep alive the principles, revolutions, the six arrows, and the two great works of our Founder Atatürk, who said, 'My humble body will surely turn to dust one day, but the Republic of Turkey will remain forever,' and to carry our Republic above the level of contemporary civilizations. We will defend and strengthen our Republic, which Atatürk defined as the 'protector of the unprotected,' and its democratic, secular, and social state of law characteristics, which are emphasized in the second article of the Constitution—one of its unchangeable articles—at any cost.
On the 86th anniversary of his passing, I commemorate our Founder Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms, and all our martyrs with mercy, I bow with respect before their memories, and I offer my gratitude to our veterans."
