Reaction from TOKİ victims to Murat Kurum: We are low-income, we will eventually be unable to make these payments
TOKİ victims, who hold protests on weekends, marched to the Tuzla Coastal Ceremony Area. The victims stated, "Instead of Murat Kurum giving 750,000 TL in grants and 750,000 TL in loans to people who already own homes, he should provide a 750,000 TL discount to those here who do not own apartments. We are low-income individuals; we will eventually be unable to make these payments."
TOKİ's Beneficiaries, who have been victimized by the increase in monthly installments and housing prices for the residences built in Tuzla, held a press statement again today.
TOKİ victims carried signs reading, 'This is oppression against the low-income, give us back our right to fixed repayments,' 'You are selling dreams, not homes,' and 'We don't want grants, we want our rights.' TOKİ victims chanted slogans such as, "The victims are here, where are the decision-makers?" and "The victims will give their answer at the ballot box." slogans were chanted.
The spokesperson for the victims, Fırat Balta, said the following:
"In 2019, they made promises to us regarding fixed installments for 180 and 240 months, along with MMA (Wage and Salary Index) increases. Since 2019, they have told us, 'You cannot buy these houses with those promises.' We are not people with money in our pockets. If we had money in our pockets, we wouldn't have applied to TOKİ.
We want to remind Erdoğan of the promises he made to us under the conditions of the first day. What did he say? 'We will provide homes to low-income citizens with small, fixed installments.' Unfortunately, by removing the fixed installments and introducing interest-bearing apartments with MMA increases every 6 months, they now want to change the terms. Mentalities that do not prioritize rights can never establish justice."
"INSTEAD OF MURAT KURUM GIVING 750,000 TL IN GRANTS TO THOSE WHO OWN HOMES, HE SHOULD GIVE US A 750,000 TL DISCOUNT"
In my opinion, it is unacceptable for Murat Kurum to impose these homes on people who have no other apartments, with interest rates tied to MMA increases. Furthermore, instead of him giving 750,000 TL in grants and 750,000 TL in loans to people who already own homes, he should provide a 750,000 TL discount to those here who do not own a home. We are low-income; we will eventually be unable to make these payments."
“YOU KNOW HOW TO WRITE OFF 750 BILLION TL FOR THE COMPANIES YOU HIRE”
Speaking at the protest, DEVA Party Tekirdağ Deputy Cem Avşar asked, "You know how to enact tax amnesties and write off 750 billion TL for the companies you hire. You know how to defer payments for Cengiz İnşaat and Kalyon İnşaat when they say, 'We made a loss.' Aren't you the ones who shouted promises to these people during the election period, saying, 'We will proceed with fixed prices'? How are these citizens supposed to trust the state?"
“THE NUMBER OF VICTIMS IS INCREASING, THIS MUST END IN THIS ELECTION”
DEVA Party Tuzla Mayoral Candidate Ceylan Yalçın also said, "What they are doing to you is saying, 'If you don't vote for the candidate I show you, you won't get your rights.' No, whoever comes to power, your rights cannot be an election promise. The number of victims is increasing day by day. This must finally come to an end in this election."
