Tense moments at CHP Bilecik Provincial Headquarters: 'It is impossible to accept'
As Kazım Yağmur and his team, who were appointed to the CHP Bilecik Provincial Presidency, arrived at the party building for the handover, party members protested the appointed provincial presidency with slogans.
Following the CHP Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting on June 30, CHP spokesperson Müslim Sarı announced that 26 provincial administrations had been dissolved. These provinces included Ağrı, Aksaray, Amasya, Batman, Bilecik, Bolu, Çanakkale, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Düzce, Eskişehir, Hakkari, Iğdır, Kars, Kırıkkale, Manisa, Mardin, Muğla, Muş, Niğde, Nevşehir, Osmaniye, Samsun, Sivas, Tunceli, and Sinop. After the MYK meeting held that day, CHP Bilecik Provincial President Ali Özdemir was dismissed and businessman Kazım Yağmur was appointed in his place.
"It is impossible to accept someone appointed in the CHP"
As Kazım Yağmur and his team, who were appointed to the CHP Bilecik Provincial Presidency, arrived at the party building for the handover, the dismissed Provincial President Ali Özdemir stated that they would leave the party keys at the Provincial Election Board today. When the appointed Provincial President Kazım Yağmur asked the dismissed CHP Bilecik Provincial President Ali Özdemir, "Where shall we sit?", Özdemir replied, "We will not sit, we will not sit like this.
First of all, all provincial presidents are here, past-term provincial presidents are here. There is a tradition in the Republican People's Party. Since the CHP is a 103-year-old party, it is a party committed to its traditions. It is impossible to accept someone appointed in the CHP. Therefore, everyone here entered this position by being elected.
If you were someone who came by being elected, if you had a certificate of election in your hand, we would hand it over to you immediately. We would hand it over after the certificate and leave. However, if you have a certificate of election in your hand today, object to it, let us do this.
If you do not have a certificate of election, excuse us, let us go and hand over our keys to the Provincial Election Board. We will go to the Provincial Election Board around 16:00 today and hand over our keys," he said.
"We will leave the party key to the Provincial Election Board"
Continuing his statement, Özdemir said, "If the certificates of election given to me by the Provincial Election Board are valid, our interlocutor is the Provincial Election Board. We came by being elected. Therefore, our interlocutor is the Provincial Election Board. We will take them there and hand over our keys. After we hand over the keys, you can take your keys from there, and we will act accordingly. There is no need for any resentment or unrest. You can come after that. We will leave everything here in good order. We will leave in good order. We have already established our new party, we will move to our new party. Therefore, let us turn you back, let us go to the Provincial Election Board. Let us hand over our keys to the Provincial Election Board. Then you can do what is necessary," he said.
Past-term CHP provincial presidents asked Kazım Yağmur, who was appointed to the CHP Bilecik Provincial Presidency, "Is this the way of service? Is the way of service going to be like this, is this the way of service in the CHP?" When party members also said, "We do not recognize Kılıçdaroğlu," and began chanting slogans such as "There is no salvation alone, either all together or none of us" and "The organization is here, standing tall," the atmosphere suddenly became tense. Afterward, the dismissed Ali Özdemir accompanied Kazım Yağmur, who was appointed to the CHP Bilecik Provincial Presidency, to the outside of the party building.
"We allowed 15 days"
In a statement to members of the press upon leaving the party, Kazım Yağmur, who was appointed to the CHP Bilecik Provincial Presidency, said, "Friends, we came and met. We will return today. The reason for our return is that we are turning back so that our party member friends do not harm each other. As I said, I have been in constant consultation with President Ali for 15 days. We allowed 15 days. The reason we did not come, as I said, is that Bilecik is a tiny place. We all know each other, we see each other face to face. We took responsibility so that no one would hurt each other and no unrest would arise in Bilecik. We will go today, and tomorrow we will come and take delivery of our keys and our party. I greet everyone with respect," he said.
