Bülent Arınç's reaction to Hamas: "We even send your food from outside, what power do you have?"

Many famous figures met with book lovers on the second day of the 13th Kocaeli Book Fair, organized this year by the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality.

Former TBMM Speaker Bülent Arınç held a talk titled 'Memories with World Leaders' at the Congress Center. Arınç discussed the content of the book 'President Arınç - Leaders, Events, Countries', written by author Ömer Şahin. Evaluating the developments between Israel and Palestine, Arınç signed books for his readers at the end of the program.

'I EXPLAINED OUR WAR OF INDEPENDENCE TO MAHMOUD ABBAS'

Stating that what is happening in Gaza is painful, Arınç said, "Let's call it Hamas in Gaza; if you call them mujahideen, it's one thing, if you call them militants, it's another. They crossed into the Israeli side with paramotors and pickup trucks. They took hostages there, and I believe around 200 people were killed or died. Israel did not let this slide; it inflicted more suffering, more death, and rained down more bombs. Palestine, that is, the place we call our stolen lands.

We have always stood by the victims and the oppressed. We have had people go to their camps; among those they trained as militants were our own people. All our politicians have supported the Palestinian cause. This includes Deniz Baykal; they all went there and said we are by your side, and they supported Bosnia in the same way. We cannot forget all of this. However, there is a contradiction now; there are two administrations in Palestine. One is Hamas's administration in Gaza, and the other is the administration in Ramallah, known as Palestine and recognized abroad, that is, the administration left over from Yasser Arafat.

These two administrations are still not at peace, and they still haven't been able to come together to even hold their own elections. This is a very shameful thing. We have met with Mahmoud Abbas many times. I told him about our War of Independence. He told me about his own, his code name is Abu Mazen.

I said, 'You are going in a very wrong direction; as long as you are not united, you will have no power in the world. Hamas says one thing, you do another,' I said. 'That is not our fault, they do not agree with us,' he said. 'But you have exhausted us,' I said. You are the ones taking the bombs, and it falls on us to help, but those who die do not come back. You must have achieved something as a result of these actions. What are you achieving? Blood and tears," he said.

'WE MUST MOVE TOWARDS A TWO-STATE SOLUTION'

Stating that they have sent a lot of aid to Gaza and Palestine, Arınç said, "We are also providing a lot of help in technical terms. We are sending medicine, we are sending food; ships full of supplies are going. This is not the way, brother; we must move towards a two-state solution accepted by the United Nations at some point. Such a decision was made in Oslo. Israel does not recognize that either, but we had brought it to a point.

Palestine will be an independent state within its own borders. Israel will be an independent state within its own borders. The world will recognize both states, and this problem will finally end within its own borders. Of course, there are disputed points, the Golan Heights, the West Bank, this and that; these can be solved through peace.

Because the United Nations is also tired of these fights. Within the framework of their program, something can be done with Turkey's leadership. We cannot get Gaza to agree to this. Whether it is Ismail Haniyeh or someone else, we love them as a Muslim. We love them as a Palestinian, but they still insist on not recognizing Israel. Now, there is a saying in diplomacy: You cannot shake hands with a clenched fist; you must open your fist so the other side can shake your hand," he said.
