Yeni Asya Editor-in-Chief detained

Following the announcement on October 21 that FETÖ leader Fethullah Gülen had died, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action against individuals identified as conducting propaganda for the organization on social media.

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into individuals who made posts containing FETÖ propaganda on social media.

DETENTION ORDER

As a result of the work carried out by the Prevention Branch of the Cyber Crimes Combat Department under the instruction of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a detention order was issued for 4 suspects, including Yeni Asya Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Kazım Güleçyüz

It was determined that the suspects made posts on their social media accounts that constituted "propaganda for a terrorist organization."

The detained suspects were taken to the police station to have their statements recorded. It was learned that the investigation is ongoing and that there may be further detentions.

ACCOUNT BLOCKED

On the other hand, access to the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) account of the detained Kazım Güleçyüz has been blocked from within Turkey.
