Zonguldak Mayor summoned to testify: Ali Mahir Başarır announces
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır announced that Zonguldak Mayor Tahsin Erdem has been summoned to testify by the prosecutor's office for participating in protests held following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu.
The detention and subsequent arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu triggered numerous protest demonstrations, primarily in Istanbul, Izmir, and Ankara.
Numerous investigations have been launched regarding these protests.
CHP MAYOR SUMMONED TO TESTIFY
Most recently, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır announced that Zonguldak Mayor Tahsin Erdem has been summoned to testify by the prosecutor's office on the grounds that he participated in the protests held for İmamoğlu.
Sharing on his social media account, Başarır stated:
"A government that has lost its sense of shame; our country is facing a fascist, junta-like, and dictatorial administration! Our Zonguldak Mayor has been summoned to testify by the prosecutor's office for participating in the actions taken by the entire country against the arrest of our presidential candidate, Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu. We are tearing up and discarding these investigations."
