10 billion TL investment from Netflix to Turkey

Netflix, one of the world's leading digital streaming platforms, has shared its new investment plan for content production in Turkey with the public. The company will allocate a total budget of 10 billion TL for local series and films for the period covering 2026-2028. Having brought more than 90 productions to audiences in Turkey to date, the platform aims to increase employment in creative sectors by spreading filming locations to different cities across Anatolia.

EMPHASIS ON TRUST IN TURKEY'S GLOBAL POWER

A. Burak Dağlıoğlu, President of the Investment Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, emphasized that Turkey has become one of the most important hubs of the global series and film industry with its production capacity and qualified workforce. Reminding that Turkish productions have been exported to 190 countries and reached more than 1 billion viewers, Dağlıoğlu stated that the export revenue generated from this sector has exceeded 1 billion dollars.

We evaluate Netflix's 10 billion TL investment covering the 2026-2028 period as a significant indicator of the trust placed in Turkey's production potential in creative industries, its qualified workforce, and its global competitiveness.

— A. Burak Dağlıoğlu - President of the Investment Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye

Dağlıoğlu also noted that the reduction of the tax rate on service export revenues to zero, within the scope of the 'Turkey as a Strong Hub for Investments' program announced by the President, played a major role in the decision to make such investments.

UNTOLD STORIES OF ANATOLIA WILL COME TO THE SCREEN

Diego Ávalos, Netflix's Vice President of Content for Spain, Portugal, Turkey, and the Middle East, noted that they have filmed in over 30 cities during their 10 years of operations in Turkey. Ávalos stated that the fact that more than 90 local productions have entered Netflix's 'Top 10' lists internationally proves the potential of the creative sector in Turkey.

Today, we are announcing our total investment of 10 billion Turkish liras covering the 2026–2028 period to add new ones to this success. With this investment, we will bring untold stories from different corners of Anatolia to the screen and create new job opportunities in the creative sector.

A GATEWAY OF OPPORTUNITY FOR NEW TALENT

In order to introduce new names to the sector, the company will organize an event titled "The Next Story: Netflix Project Pitch Day" on November 30. Individuals who have not previously worked as a screenwriter, director, or producer on any Netflix Turkey production will have the opportunity to present their projects directly to content teams thanks to this event.

In addition to this, Netflix, which has offered more than 40 free training programs to date to support the development of the creative sector in Turkey, had previously brought young people in provinces such as Çanakkale, Mardin, Konya, and Hatay together with sectoral training through its "Turkey Talent Map" project. This program is planned to be expanded to three more cities in Anatolia in the new period.
