BOTAŞ responds to natural gas debt allegations
BOTAŞ has stated that reports claiming Turkey's natural gas debt to Russia has reached 27.5 billion dollars and that negotiations are underway to restructure this debt are baseless.
The Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAŞ) has issued a statement regarding its natural gas debt to Russia.
In a statement made via BOTAŞ's X social media account, it was noted that news and allegations aimed at damaging the organization's reputation in the national and international arena and lowering its brand value do not reflect the truth.
"SIGNIFICANT AND INTENTIONAL"
Emphasizing that BOTAŞ reserves its legal rights regarding the claims in question, the statement included the following remarks:
"A need has arisen to inform the public regarding the baseless and unfounded claims appearing in some media outlets and on social media in recent days, suggesting that Turkey's natural gas debt to Russia has reached the level of 27.5 billion dollars and that negotiations are being conducted to restructure this debt. At a time when giant investments are being realized and export agreements that have captured the world's attention are being implemented on the path to becoming a central country in energy during the 'Century of Turkey,' it is highly significant and intentional that BOTAŞ, our country's pride and flagship in energy, is being brought to the agenda with such baseless allegations."
