Breaking News... Arbitration Board convenes for civil servant pay raise: Meeting concludes

During the 8th Collective Bargaining Period in the public sector, no agreement was reached as a wide gap emerged between the government's offer and the unions' demands. After the authorized union Memur-Sen rejected the public side's final offer, the bargaining process between the parties came to an end.

The Public Employees Arbitration Board convened for its first meeting to determine the financial and social rights of civil servants and retired civil servants for 2026–2027.

In this context, the Board met for the first time under the chairmanship of Court of Accounts President Metin Yener.

The meeting, held at the Court of Accounts, was attended by Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security Faruk Özçelik, Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance İsmail İlhan Hatipoğlu, Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change Burak Demiralp, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Strategy and Budget Directorate İsa Atçeken, and academics Prof. Dr. Fatih Uşan and Prof. Dr. Erdinç Yazıcı.

DECISION TO BE MADE WITHIN 5 DAYS

The Board is required to reach a decision within 5 days. The decision will be final and cannot be appealed. Meanwhile, participants left their mobile phones outside the meeting room before entering, citing security requirements.
