Critical day in wage negotiations: 600,000 public workers have their eyes on this meeting
The critical day has arrived for the wage negotiations of approximately 600,000 public workers. TÜHİS, representing the employer side, is expected to announce its first wage offer today.
Following the submission of the joint wage proposal prepared by HAK-İş and Türk-İş to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security on February 25, all eyes turned to the employer side, TÜHİS.
Having completed its preparations following the demands made on behalf of public workers, the Turkish Heavy Industry and Service Sector Public Employers' Union (TÜHİS) will sit at the table with labor unions today at 14:00.
The meeting will be hosted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. During the meeting, TÜHİS is expected to present its first wage offer for public workers.
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS OF PUBLIC WORKERS?
The labor side is demanding that the lowest daily gross wage be increased to 1,800 liras. Following this increase, a 50 percent raise is requested for the first six months of 2025.
In addition, they are demanding 25 percent raises for each of the remaining two halves of the year, as well as an additional 10 percent welfare share for each period.
