Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek responded to claims that Borsa İstanbul would be closed on Monday with a statement he made on the social media platform X.

Stating that speculative news should not be given credence, Şimşek expressed that negative statements regarding the economy do not reflect the truth.

Minister Şimşek stated that they are closely monitoring geopolitical developments and are evaluating the potential effects of these developments on the economy in all their dimensions. Şimşek emphasized that our economy is based on strong macroeconomic foundations and that these foundations are resilient against shocks. Saying, "Our economy showed resilience against both domestic and external developments last year," Şimşek said that the government will continue to take the necessary steps for the healthy functioning of the markets.
