The growing labor shortage in the construction sector in Switzerland has brought the recruitment of foreign workers back to the top of the agenda. As urban transformation, housing projects, and infrastructure investments continue in the country, it is stated that there is difficulty in finding experienced personnel to work on-site.
Among the main reasons for the shortage in the sector are that senior craftsmen who have worked in construction for many years are reaching retirement age, and younger generations are turning more toward desk-based fields such as finance, informatics, technology, and the pharmaceutical industry. In the country, where the unemployment rate has fallen to the 2 percent level, it is stated that companies are having difficulty finding enough employees from the domestic market.
For this reason, Swiss construction companies have accelerated their search for workers from countries including Turkey through international employment agencies. It is reported that experienced bricklayers and site managers stand out in the recruitment process.

According to sector analyses, there are more than 20,000 open positions across Switzerland. It is noted that the base monthly income of a skilled craftsman varies between 5,000 and 6,500 Swiss francs, which corresponds to approximately 300,000 TL at the current exchange rate.
It is stated that with overtime, bonuses, and responsibility premiums, monthly earnings can rise to the 8,900 euro level, which is approximately 495,000 TL. The 40.5-hour weekly work schedule, occupational accident insurance, and social rights are also among the notable elements of the offers.
It is reported that companies in Switzerland are turning to recruiting experienced workers from countries such as Portugal, Italy, and Spain, in addition to Turkey. It is stated that Turkish craftsmen are among the groups in demand during this process due to their experience in challenging field conditions.
