The Ministry of Trade launched an investigation into cushion covers that a home textile brand was offering for sale on its website with the claim "100% cotton." The matter was brought to the agenda of the Advertising Board after a consumer who purchased the products encountered the phrase "100% polyester" on the sewn-in labels of the covers they received.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, the Advertising Board decided that the product promotions on the website were misleading to consumers. In this context, it was ruled that an administrative fine of 1 million 83 thousand 706 lira be imposed on the relevant company.

The Board also decided to stop the advertisements in question. The decision was based on the fact that the information in the product's online promotion did not match the information on the product label that reached the consumer.

In the Ministry of Trade's statement, it was emphasized that inspections will continue with determination in order to ensure that consumers are correctly informed and protected against misleading advertisements and promotions.
