The 'fund fraud' that shook Turkey hits the stock market: Losses exceed 173 billion dollars

The "fund fraud" that has shaken Turkey's agenda has led to deep destruction in financial markets and the largest market fraud in the history of the Republic. The sharp decline in the total market value of publicly traded companies over the last two months reveals the scale of the crisis.

According to CMB Issuance Data, the total market value of stock market companies, which was 479 billion dollars in the August 2026 period, plummeted to 306 billion dollars as of October 2026 following the panic created by the fund fraud.

The massive loss of 173 billion dollars that evaporated in just two months is causing factories, commercial enterprises, and banks to melt away.

Experts emphasize that the only way to stop this economic destruction and the downward trend caused by the fund fraud is to clarify the issue in all its aspects, and they list the steps that must be taken urgently as follows:

Disclose the list: The list containing those involved in the fund fraud and the massive market manipulation that occurred must be shared with the public immediately.

Establish a parliamentary inquiry commission: An urgent inquiry commission must be formed within the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) to examine the facts behind the multi-billion dollar collapse in all its dimensions and to identify those responsible.

Dismiss all executives of the relevant institutions: All top executives in institutions that have direct responsibility, weakness, or negligence in the process must be removed from their duties.

Establish a fully authorized “task force” to manage the process: An independent and fully authorized special team must be implemented immediately to clear the financial wreckage, make the process transparent, and restore confidence in the markets.
