A new claim has emerged in the discussions regarding regulations for pension payments. Sabah columnist Faruk Erdem wrote that the regulation expected to be implemented for retirees by the end of the year may not be limited to the inflation increase in January.
According to Erdem, it is stated that the increase to be made for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees in January is calculated at around 10 percent, and that adding a welfare share on top of this is being evaluated. According to the claim, the welfare share is expected to be in the range of 10 to 20 points.
If the increase in question is added on top of the raise rate, it is anticipated that it will be reflected in pension payments based on the base salary. For this reason, how the regulation will be implemented, especially for retirees receiving low base salaries, is of importance.
Reminding that retirees' base salaries are determined according to premium payments, Erdem stated that differences have arisen among retirees for this reason. He noted that to eliminate these differences, gradual flat-rate increases could be brought to the agenda by taking into account the number of premium days and payments.
The pensions of retirees receiving low salaries are topped up to the minimum pension determined in each raise period with Treasury support. According to Erdem, eliminating the difference that arises between retirees who receive the same base pension despite having different base salaries and those who cannot benefit from the support because they remain just above the base salary could also be one of the topics of the regulation.
Erdem argued that with gradual flat-rate increases to be made to base salaries, the need to determine a base pension every 6 months could also be eliminated.
