İmamoğlu leaves his mark on poll conducted in 30 metropolitan cities
DİEN Research took the pulse of citizens regarding the presidential elections in 30 metropolitan cities. While Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu left his mark on the survey, which included multiple questions, the vote share of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan drew attention.
DİEN Research has shared the results of its nationwide election poll in Turkey with the public.
In the survey, which was completed between September 24-29, 2024, through face-to-face interviews with 12,688 people in 30 metropolitan cities, quotas for age, education, gender, and occupation were applied.
In the survey, participants were asked the question, "If the presidential election were held this Sunday, who would you consider voting for?"
According to the results, the name of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who had previously lagged behind Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in polls conducted by different companies, has come to the fore.
The responses given to the question using the multiple-answer technique are as follows:
Ekrem İmamoğlu: 57.8 percent
Mansur Yavaş: 48.5 percent
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan: 40.2 percent
Selahattin Demirtaş: 15.7 percent
Özgür Özel: 14.2 percent
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu: 12.7 percent
Devlet Bahçeli: 7.2 percent
Ümit Özdağ: 5.7 percent
Fatih Erbakan: 5.3 percent
Ali Babacan: 3.8 percent
Ahmet Davutoğlu: 2.1
Undecided: 26.4 percent
Others: 8.6 percent
No Opinion: 7.1 percent
According to the responses given to the question, "Which of the following characteristics would you like a presidential candidate to represent?", there is a demand for a leader who embraces all segments of society, is young, democratic, and Kemalist for the presidency.
As for the question of which candidate is more "Kemalist," the gap between Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mansur Yavaş and the other candidates was found to be quite high.
