Minimum wage prediction from Fatih Portakal: 'The people will revolt...'
Journalist Fatih Portakal has announced his prediction regarding the 2025 minimum wage increase.
As citizens struggle with the cost of living due to high inflation and rising prices, all eyes have turned to the 2025 minimum wage increase.
Minimum wage earners, who did not receive an additional raise in 2024, are expecting the gap to be closed with the 2025 increase.
Economists, meanwhile, are making raise predictions ranging between 25 percent and 40 percent.
The latest forecast came from Deutsche Bank, where bank analysts stated that if the 2025 minimum wage increase exceeds 30 percent, the Turkish economy would face difficulties.
Journalist Fatih Portakal has also made a prediction regarding the 2025 minimum wage increase.
Speaking on his own YouTube channel, Portakal stated that Deutsche Bank obtained this data from behind-the-scenes sources and claimed that the minimum wage would be 23 thousand TL in January.
Stating that the public would revolt if a 25-30 percent price hike were implemented, Portakal said, "Deutsche Bank must have received inside information when providing this forecast rate. It is likely being shared with us based on certain analyses."
"THERE IS A 5 THOUSAND LIRA LOSS IN PURCHASING POWER"
Sharing his own forecast during his broadcast, Fatih Portakal said, "I was expecting a minimum wage increase of around 60-65 percent, without a welfare share. There is already a 5 thousand lira loss in purchasing power."
Reminding that Deutsche Bank projected a minimum wage increase of around 25-30 percent yesterday, Fatih Portakal spoke as follows:
"Is such a thing possible? They likely received this rate from the inside; they listened to the ruling side and the labor side and conducted an analysis. If it were 30 percent, it would be 22,000 TL, and they deem this appropriate for the worker.
They will receive this salary for 1 year. It will likely not be below 45 percent in terms of actual inflation. It should have been increased by at least around 65-70 percent.”
"THE NATION WILL RISE UP"
Portakal stated that if this rate is accepted, "The government's suggestion is very important. The government says 'I am neutral.' If government officials say 'if you accept 25-30 percent, TÜRK-İŞ officials will be forced to accept it.' If you do not use the power that comes from production, it has no meaning."
If the minimum wage does not increase at the desired rate, we may see citizens in the squares. They are forcing the nation to live in misery. Do we want to be miserable? We will object, we will use our power that comes from working and from production," he commented.
