Access blocked for 60 social media accounts regarding obscenity and prostitution investigation in Mersin

Following the detention of 50 suspects in Mersin as part of an investigation into obscenity and prostitution, an access ban has been issued for certain social media accounts that posted about the investigation.

According to the information received, the investigation was conducted by the Morality Bureau of the Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch under the coordination of the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. As part of the operation, a simultaneous operation codenamed "My Family is Safe" was carried out at numerous addresses identified across the city.

The 50 suspects apprehended in the operation were taken to the police station. It was reported that judicial proceedings are ongoing against the suspects on charges including "producing obscene content," "prostitution," and "providing a place for prostitution," and that weapons and various criminal items were seized during the searches.

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requested an access ban for social media accounts alleged to have targeted the ongoing judicial investigation and made provocative posts.

The Mersin 3rd Criminal Court of Peace and the Mersin 4th Criminal Court of Peace issued decisions to block access to 60 social media accounts. It was learned that the Cyber Security Presidency was notified to implement the decisions.
