Decision reached regarding Görele Mayor Hasbi Dede, who was arrested on 'sexual harassment' charges

Hasbi Dede, serving as the Mayor of the Görele district in Giresun, was released under judicial control during the first hearing of the case in which he is being tried on charges of sending sexually explicit messages to a child via social media. The hearing was held behind closed doors at the Görele 1st Criminal Court of First Instance.

Hasbi Dede, who was in prison, attended the hearing via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS) and denied the accusations directed at him. In its interim decision, the court ruled that Mayor Dede should be tried without arrest under judicial control and adjourned the hearing to April 24, 2026.

On the other hand, it was noted that Dede is still being held at a penal institution in Samsun and has been suspended from his duties by the decision of the Ministry of Interior throughout the process.

The indictment states that the incident began on February 8, 2026, when the victim child and her mother applied to the police. According to the complaint, it was alleged that the Mayor sent disturbing messages via Instagram and WhatsApp. Within the scope of the investigation, the child's mobile phone was examined, records of the messaging were prepared, and digital materials were technically analyzed by Cybercrime Units.

A lawsuit was filed against Mayor Dede demanding a prison sentence of 9 months to 4 years and 6 months for the alleged sexual harassment of a child via electronic communication tools. Dede, who was arrested during the investigation process, was suspended from his duties on February 12. The court will wait until April 24 for the continuation of the trial.
