Tuğyan Ülkem Gülter, who was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment in the case regarding the death of Gül Tut, known to the public as “Güllü,” has now come to the fore with allegations concerning her time working as a nurse. It has been stated that new camera footage regarding accusations of mistreatment of patients has been added to the investigation file.
Gül Tut lost her life on September 26, 2025, after falling from the window of her home in the Çınarcık district of Yalova. In the investigation conducted following the incident, the statements of Gülter and her friend Sultan Nur Ulu, who was with her at the time of the incident, as well as the evidence in the file, were examined. While it was decided at the end of the trial that Gülter would remain in custody, her lawyer appealed the verdict and requested her release.
ALLEGATIONS REGARDING THE HOSPITAL PERIOD
The allegations regarding Gülter’s time at the hospital came to the agenda after her former fiancé, Kervan Eminoğlu, applied to the prosecutor’s office. Eminoğlu claimed that during the time Gülter worked as a nurse, she treated some patients inappropriately and that she administered injections to patients to make them sleep during night shifts in order to ensure her own comfort.
The application also alleged that hospital staff were taught how to perform CPR on real patients and that the times of death for some patients who passed away in intensive care were recorded differently. Following these allegations, both judicial and administrative investigations were launched.
According to reports by ATV Haber, the new footage added to the file shows Gülter performing CPR on a patient on July 30, 2024. In another camera recording from the same date, it is stated that a nursing assistant is performing CPR on the same patient.
Gülter had previously denied the accusations against her. Arguing that playing music for patients was a normal part of the care process, Gülter stated that it was impossible for her to change the times of death, that nurses did not have the authority to write death reports, and that medications were kept in locked cabinets.
“I am glad that an investigation has been launched. All my colleagues will say what is necessary. Neither I nor the private institution where I worked will ever be under suspicion regarding this matter. My heart and conscience are very clear.”
AUDIO RECORDING AND PERJURY CASE
An audio recording, which allegedly suggests preparations were being made to flee abroad, also came to the agenda in the file regarding Güllü’s death. It was stated that the recording contained voices belonging to Gülter, Sultan Nur Ulu, and Ulu’s brother.
In the conversation reflected in the recording, it was reported that Ulu said, “It won’t be long before we escape too,” and that when Gülter said, “We don’t have passports,” Ulu’s brother responded by mentioning preparations for passports and hotel reservations. It was also alleged that Sultan Nur Ulu said in the conversation, “Brother, if the state doesn’t do anything to us, we will get out of this somehow.”
A separate case has been opened against Sultan Nur Ulu, who testified as a witness in the trial where Gülter was tried, on charges of perjury. Ulu is expected to appear before a judge on November 11 to present her defense regarding this charge.
