Former Fenerbahçe President Sadettin Saran and broadcaster Ela Rümeysa Cebeci will appear before a judge today at the Istanbul 4th High Criminal Court on charges of "dealing or providing narcotic or stimulant substances."
The case file requests a prison sentence of no less than 10 years for each individual. WhatsApp messages allegedly exchanged between Saran and Cebeci during the investigation process have also been included in the file.
It is claimed that the messages in question point not only to drug use but also to an intent to supply substances. The trial of the parties will begin with the evaluation of these allegations before the court.
It had been stated that Saran's hair samples tested positive for cocaine. In his statement to the prosecutor's office, Saran denied the accusations, claiming that the result might have been caused by sedatives he used during the presidential election period. Saran was released on December 20, 2025, under judicial control conditions.
Cebeci, who was arrested on December 17, 2025, as part of the investigation, remained in prison until April 24, 2026. It was reported that the drug test conducted at the Council of Forensic Medicine for Cebeci came back positive, and that she had surrendered her phone along with its password to the authorities. Cebeci admitted to using drugs but denied the allegation that she was selling them.
