Supreme Court ruling on 'wedding jewelry'! Does it belong to the bride or the groom?

The Supreme Court has changed its precedent regarding the 'wedding jewelry' issue, which often leads to disputes between husbands and wives.

Accordingly, items gifted to the groom will belong to the groom, and those gifted to the bride will belong to the bride.

Explaining the details of the matter to CNN TÜRK, Attorney Selin Kırhan stated, "Items gifted at the wedding will no longer belong solely to the woman. As you know, there was a strict ruling that 'it belongs to the woman.' Finally, the Supreme Court has changed its precedent. The Supreme Court says that jewelry gifted to the bride belongs to the bride, and jewelry gifted to the groom belongs to the groom. There is only one criterion: the criterion of appropriation. What does this mean? Jewelry specific to women, such as bracelets, earrings, and necklaces, will belong to the woman. Apart from that, if money, gold, etc., were gifted to the groom, these will belong to the groom."

VIDEOS AND PHOTOS WILL BE EXAMINED

Explaining how it will be determined who the jewelry was gifted to, Attorney Selin Kırhan said, "In particular, wedding videos and wedding photos will be examined. A list will be compiled from these. A report will be prepared together with an expert jeweler and an expert witness. Based on this report, it will be distinguished who was gifted what."
