Letter to Erdoğan from Dilan Polat and Engin Polat! 'I shaved my head to the skin...'

Dilan Polat and Engin Polat, who have been in prison since November 2023, are under investigation for "forgery of official documents," "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes," "laundering assets derived from crime," and "failure to comply with the Tax Procedure Law."

The influencer couple sent a letter from prison through their lawyer, Hüseyin Kara.

"I WROTE A LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT IN MY OWN HANDWRITING"

According to a report in Odatv; Dilan Polat said, "I wrote a letter to the President and the Minister of Justice in my own handwriting. After consulting with my lawyer, I will decide whether to send it or share it with the public. What I explained in the letter is that the indictment should be prepared as soon as possible and that it should be revealed what our crime is."

Touching upon prison conditions, Polat stated, “Prison conditions are, of course, not the same as the outside. Our state is trying to provide a safe environment for detainees and convicts as much as it can. They treat me quite well. We do not eat any food other than prison meals. In case of illness, they intervene immediately. I now see the prison, where I have formed very close friendships, as a piece of home."

Engin Polat, for his part, said that he would pay his debts to the state once he gets out of prison and mentioned that he has been studying English for the last two months.

Engin Polat said, "I am staying alone in prison. Actually, if I were with my father, we would keep each other company. That way, time would pass more easily. I would take care of my father due to his illness. It would be nice if such an opportunity were provided."

In his letter, Engin Polat also stated, “Of course, I know that in prison, just like in life outside, food, heating issues, and facilities are within the means of our state. They treat me well. I have no complaints. I shaved my head to the skin, and I will calculate when I will be released based on how much it grows back. I have set a maximum duration. I am counting down the days in reverse."
