Kunukçu's lawyer announced that his client's detention had been lifted by the decision of the Gaziantep 6th Criminal Court of Peace and that he had been released to be tried without arrest. The statement noted that the process should be conducted "within the framework of the rule of law and the presumption of innocence."

Commenting on the lawyer's statement, İrem Derici said, "The efforts of you and your entire team. I love you all so much, you cannot be repaid." In a post on her X account, Derici wrote, "And he is home."
