The 20th Istanbul Half Marathon is tomorrow... Which roads will be closed to traffic?
Some roads in Istanbul will be closed to traffic on Sunday due to the 20th Half Marathon to be held in the city.
The 20th International Türkiye İş Bankası Istanbul Half Marathon, organized by Spor Istanbul, a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, will take place on Sunday, April 27. As part of this event, certain roads in the Fatih and Beyoğlu districts will be closed to traffic between 04:30 and 13:30. Starting from 11:05, roads will be gradually reopened to traffic, beginning with the Balat route.
The marathon has reached a record participation of 18,000 runners across the 21K and 10K categories. Consequently, there will be changes to public transport services on the day of the event. The T1 Kabataş-Bağcılar Tram Line will only operate between the Sirkeci and Bağcılar stations from 07:00 to 13:30. Those traveling by IETT buses will be able to track route and service changes via iett.gov.tr and the IETT's "Where is My Bus?" (Otobüsüm Nerede?) application.
