Drunk driver who fled from police 'stop' order fined 250,000 TL: See what he said when caught

In the Kocasinan district of Kayseri, a car driven by B.K., which failed to comply with a 'stop' order during a police inspection, was caught after a short pursuit. A check by traffic teams revealed that the driver had a blood alcohol level of 1.20 promille.

The incident occurred on Karpuzatan Street in the Oruçreis neighborhood. Teams from the Patrol Teams Bureau of the Kayseri Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch ordered the car with license plate 38 HE 014 to stop as part of a public safety operation in the city. The driver, who fled without complying with the order, was stopped by the teams on the same street.

Following the procedures carried out by the Traffic Inspection Branch teams called to the scene, B.K. was issued a total administrative fine of 250,000 TL for 'driving under the influence' and 'failing to comply with a stop order.' The driver's license was suspended for 2 years, and the car was towed to a parking lot.

Because his blood alcohol level was above the 1.00 promille limit, legal proceedings were also initiated against B.K. for 'endangering traffic safety.' The driver was taken to the police station to give a statement.

Stating that he regretted fleeing, B.K. said, "I did not comply with the police teams' 'stop' order. It would have been better if I had stopped. I fled because I was drunk. My advice to friends who are drunk is: do not flee. Stop no matter what. You need to stop to avoid misunderstandings. I didn't stop. I got fined, and my vehicle was towed to the parking lot.
