Fire in Tekirdağ brought under control
A fire that broke out in an area containing former coal mines in the Saray district of Tekirdağ has been brought under control. Approximately 2 hectares of land were damaged in the fire.
The fire started in the area where former coal mines are located in the Edirköy neighborhood. The fire, which broke out in stubble, grassy, and wooded areas, grew quickly and spread over a wide area.
The fire in Tekirdağ was responded to by the Fire Department teams, as well as reinforcement teams from surrounding districts, primarily Kapaklı, along with Forestry Directorate teams, heavy machinery, and fire trucks.
The fire in Tekirdağ, which was difficult to bring under control due to the wind, was extinguished before it could spread to residential areas. It was learned that approximately 2 hectares of land were damaged in the fire.
Authorities stated that an investigation into the cause of the fire has been initiated and warned citizens to be more careful, especially during the summer months.
