Scenes from Caddebostan Beach become a hot topic on social media

Caddebostan Beach, one of the most popular destinations for those heading to the coast in Istanbul during the hot weather, became a hot topic on social media over the weekend due to a widely discussed scene. Moments of a group gathered among the crowd on the sand, dancing 'halay' to loud music played from a portable speaker, were captured on mobile phone cameras.

In the footage, it was seen that the beach was quite crowded; the group formed a large circle in the middle of the sand in an area where people were swimming, and families and children were present. The video, which spread quickly on social platforms, also brought with it a debate about how public spaces should be used.

Some social media users argued that the loud music and crowded entertainment disturbed the citizens around them, stating that inspections on beaches should be increased.
