Tragedy in Denizli: Tradesman dies after lightning strikes the tree he took shelter under during rain

Heavy rainfall in the Honaz district of Denizli has resulted in a tragic incident. A person who took shelter under a tree to protect themselves from the rain lost their life after being struck by lightning.

According to the information obtained, Halil Bozdemir, who worked as a curtain seller on Saltak Street in the Merkezefendi district, had gone to his hometown of Honaz to spend the weekend and attend to field work. While working in the field during the day, Bozdemir sought shelter under a tree to protect himself from the sudden heavy rain. However, a lightning strike hit the unfortunate man at that moment.

Citizens in the vicinity noticed the situation and immediately notified the gendarmerie and medical teams. Bozdemir, who received initial intervention from the medical teams that arrived at the scene, was taken to Honaz State Hospital. However, despite all interventions performed there, he could not be saved.

Bozdemir's body was sent to the forensic medicine institution for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
